Drought

you're the only one I see when I look to my feet
moving slowly through the weeds
I can feel my release to the water
and when will this water run dry?
I see you look at me so can you feel these sensations grow?
I want you to be with me so I won't be alone
when these waters run dry
just a heart is like a bell, but without a ring
but with a little bit of blood and some love it will sing
like the water, and when will this water run dry?
when will this water run dry?
I see you look at me so can you feel these sensations grow?
I want you to be with me so I won't be alone
no I won't be alone when these waters run dry

I don't wanna take your advice, but I might
listening is nothing but it gets you through the night
what you want now is what you're gonna get
hold your head high or I'll run you til you're dead
I don't like to, but I have to
kicked when you're down, oh, it can't be something new
and I can't get out til it's done
I can't stop til I've won
somewhere far away from here is something I could love
but I can't get out til it's done
done, done, done
take me to the sand two steps at a time
it's been a long wait, it's a slow unwind
where we've been before is where we'll go again
somewhere far away from here is something I could love
somewhere far away from here is something I could love
somewhere far away from here is something I could love
somewhere far away from here is something I could love
somewhere far away from here is something I could

Patterns

I've pinned myself down but there's nothing to see here
I'm sure it'll go around
like circles and squares, knots in your hair
find something new to think about
this won't move me along
the garden still will sprout, without my help
oh, watch me go
trying to wash these patterns from my skin
let me in to the house where you make them
oh, let me go sink my feet into some other ground
nothing has to change
tracing your feelings that hurt the most won't make them go away
shake them off before you
let that morning come through
I've got a memory of this
when you walk around my kitchen you forget about
the times I have to leave you
oh, watch me go
trying to wash these patterns from my skin
let me in to the house where you make them
oh, let me go sink my feet into some other ground
nothing has to change
ohhh, let me go, sink my heart into some other ground
nothing has to change, ohhhh
nothing has to change

still my soul, I feel the same
call me by a different name
patiently with grief or pain
things will always ever change
right my way, I fall behind and
god can only change my mind
if I never said to you
everything I wanted to
it can only be because I was afraid
everything we have is only what we've made
right my way, I fall behind and
I can only change my mind
there but for the grace I go
hope to hope will make it so
I will do for you what you have done in kind
really I just want you mine
